WNL adapts Lineup’s celeb quiz format In Other News, Today as VRT renews

Dutch public broadcaster WNL has commissioned celebrity quiz format In Other News, Today, from Amsterdam-based distributor Lineup Industries, while VRT in Belgium has ordered a sixth season.

The Dutch version will air daily on NPO 1 from next February, hosted by news anchor and late-night presenter Frank van Leeuwen. It is being produced by Mediawan Skyhigh. The Belgian season will also launch in February and will air four days a week for 11 weeks.

The format sees a studio host and three celebrity guests play a quiz in which every question is drawn from the news of the previous 24 hours and the celebrities’ own social media feeds. Each episode ends with a second host surprising a registered viewer at home, where the viewer watches the final round live.

Flemish production company Panenka created the format and also devised Taboo and Switch, which Lineup distributes internationally.

“In Other News, Today is current affairs made fast and fun – an ideal daily show where not only can you play along at home, but you can also sign up to be part of it and a potential winner, without having the pressure of answering a question,” said Ed Louwerse, founder of Lineup Industries.
