Wildstar Films, Dan O’Neill launch YouTube channel The World is Out There

Dan O’Neill

Fremantle-owned Wildstar Films has teamed up with wildlife filmmaker, explorer and scientist Dan O’Neill on a YouTube channel featuring content focused on the natural world.

The World is Out There aims to create a community and fandom for the planet and reach audiences who may not traditionally watch natural history programming.

The channel will feature three core strands. The World is Out There Expeditions will comprise longer-form docs following O’Neill on wildlife expeditions, while The World is Out There Podcast is a monthly filmed podcast in which O’Neill takes guests for outdoor walks.

The third strand, The World is Out There Explainers, includes shorter, presenter-led films exploring animal behaviour, science and topical stories from the natural world.

Rebecca Wootton, chief operating officer at Wildstar Films, said: “As audience habits continue to evolve, The World is Out There represents an exciting opportunity to extend Wildstar’s storytelling beyond traditional platforms and build a long-term digital brand.”

Creators and traditional players teaming up in natural history was one of the key trends identified in our C21investigates piece from last week’s Wildscreen event in Bath. To read it, click here.
