Weintraub pockets new role at 3 Ball

US prodco 3 Ball Entertainment has upped co-CEO Ross Weintraub to sole chief executive, as his fellow co-CEO steps down to return to producing through a first-look deal with the company.

Todd A Nelson, who co-founded 3 Ball, will also be pursuing new opportunities in the tech and start-up spaces.

As the only CEO, Weintraub will run all aspects of the company, working with new president Ronak Kordestani, who joined the firm last year.

Weintraub will grow the company’s unscripted slate across broadcast, cable and streaming platforms and will also be tasked with expanding 3 Ball’s presence in the TV industry through joint ventures and other strategic partnerships.

In October, the company linked up with Jeff Jenkins to form new outfit Jeff Jenkins Productions. Additionally, 3 Ball formed Parabolic Films, under co-presidents Rick Sasson and Seth Sherman, to produce unscripted content focusing on mystery and action-adventure programming.

“Ross is the ideal executive to helm 3 Ball and navigate this unquestionable period of change and disruption,” said Reinout Oerlemans, 3 Ball Entertainment’s chairman. “Under Ross’s savvy and strategic leadership, the company will continue to grow and adapt, developing exciting new projects and forging new ventures and partnerships.”
