TWC has picked up the primetime ITV show for the US and Canada in a deal with distributor Hat Trick International (HTI) ahead of its launch at Mipcom next month.

The 3×60’ drama, which represents HTI’s first move into scripted distribution, is based on the novel by Anthony Trollope and was adapted for the small screen by Fellowes.

It will be exec produced by Harvey and Bob Weinstein alongside Hat Trick head of drama Mark Redhead (Critical, The Suspicions of Mr Whicher), Fellowes, Chris Kelly and Ted Childs.

Doctor Thorne is produced by Hat Trick Productions for ITV. The deal for the series was negotiated by Paul Cohen and Sarah Tong at Hat Trick with Robert Walak and Michal Podell Steinberg on behalf of TWC. Production will be overseen by Walak and Negeen Yazdi in London and Melissa Wells in New York.

TWC named Walak head of TV and global acquisitions earlier this year as its previously announced move into the TV business gathered pace.

Earlier this week it picked up Icelandic drama Trapped for US distribution.
