WBD signs Dogus Media pact to expand Turkish content’s international footprint

Salted Love follows two families brought together by marriage

Entertainment giant Warner Bros Discovery (WBD) and Turkey’s Dogus Media Group have agreed a strategic partnership to co-finance and co-broadcast Turkish scripted series, starting with romantic comedy drama Salted Love (Tuzlu Kahve).

Produced by Poll Films, Salted Love follows a couple whose decision to marry brings together two very different families, setting the stage for a story that combines romance, comedy and family drama. The ensemble cast includes Nebahat Çehre, Eda Ece, Buğra Gülsoy and Binnur Kaya.

The series will premiere on Turkish broadcaster Star TV and will be available exclusively on HBO Max in Turkey 24 hours after each episode.

The partnership marks a further investment by WBD in Turkey’s production business, with the aim of creating new financing and distribution opportunities in locally produced stories with international appeal.

Under the agreement, Dogus Media Group will air the series on free-to-air linear television, with Star TV serving as its broadcast home in Turkey. WBD will make Salted Love available locally and internationally on streamer HBO Max.

In addition, WBD will air the series in a second window on its linear channels in Italy, Romania, Hungary and Bulgaria.

Deniz Şaşmaz Oflaz, VP and local original productions lead for Turkey, Italy and Spain, and channels and operations lead for Turkey at WBD, said: “Our partnership with Dogus Media Group brings together the strengths of Star TV’s established broadcast reach and Warner Bros Discovery’s production and streaming capabilities, creating a model designed to support the growth and wider distribution of Turkish content.”
