Walter Presents cries wolf in UK

Cry Wolf (Ulven Kommer) looks at the fall-out from a teenager’s school essay

Non-English-language drama VoD service Walter Presents has secured the UK rights to psychological mystery series Cry Wolf (Ulven Kommer).

Originally commissioned and distributed by Danish pubcaster DR, the eight-parter explores the family and societal consequences when a teenage girl writes a school essay about her stepfather’s violent behaviour, which triggers an investigation by social services into the parents, who deny the charge.

Cry Wolf, written by Maja Jul Larsen (Follow The Money, Borgen), won the 2021 Nordisk Film & TV Fond Prize for scriptwriting in the TV Drama Vision strand during this year’s online Göteborg Film Festival.

The series was directed by Pernille Fischer Christensen (A Family), May El-Toukhy (The Legacy), Samanou Sahlstrøm (Follow The Money) and Niclas Bendixen (Ditte & Louise).

It premiered on DR in primetime in October and will be available in the UK next year.

Walter Iuzzolino, curator and co-founder of Walter Presents, said: “Cry Wolf is a character-driven, tense and emotional series which adds a totally new voice to our spectacular, existing slate of Danish drama. DR Sales consistently delivers high-class series with themes and powerful stories that have the ability to resonate with UK audiences and beyond.”
