ViacomCBS International Studios extends relationship with Juan José Campanella

ViacomCBS International Studios (VIS) has signed an exclusive deal with Oscar-winning director and writer Juan José Campanella.

This agreement will see Campanella come on board to write, produce, direct and provide consulting services for VIS.

It follows the studio’s first-look deal with Campanella’s production company, 100 Bares Productions, which was struck in 2019.

Under that first-look deal, Los Enviados (The Envoys), directed by Campanella, has been produced ahead of launching later this year on ViacomCBS-owned streaming service Paramount+ in Latin America.

Season two of the series is currently in development under Campanella, who directed the Oscar-winning feature El Secreto de Sus Ojos (The Secrets in their Eyes) and animated film Metegol. He was also behind miniseries Vientos de Agua and has directed several episodes of Law & Order: SVU and House.

VIS currently has more than 160 projects in development and 50 projects in production. It produces content for all genres, both for third-party platforms and ViacomCBS brands, including Nickelodeon, MTV, Comedy Central, Channel 5 in the UK, Network 10 in Australia and Telefe in Argentina.
