Hulu calls for Sky UK’s paramedic comedy Bloods as S2 begins filming

Bloods stars Samson Kayo and Jane Horrocks

Disney-owned Hulu has acquired the exclusive US rights to Sky UK’s paramedic comedy Bloods, which recently began filming its second season in London.

The first season of Bloods will arrive on Hulu on December 9 and the streamer will launch the second run in the US in 2022.

Produced by Stath Lets Flats and People Just Do Nothing prodco Roughcut TV in association with Sky Studios, the show airs on Sky Comedy and streaming service Now in the UK.

The 10×30′ second season will see Katherine Kelly and Nathan Foad join the cast, which also includes Samson Kayo, Jane Horrocks, Lucy Punch, Julian Barratt, Adrian Scarborough, Kevin Garry, Sam Campbell and Aasiya Shah.

The show follows a tough-acting loner (Kayo) and an over-friendly divorcee (Horrocks) as a pair of mismatched paramedics and their fellow ambulance station colleagues through the life-saving world of a South London emergency service.

Bloods was commissioned by Zai Bennett, Sky’s MD of content; Jon Mountague, Sky Studios’ director of comedy; and Tilusha Ghelani, commissioning editor for Sky Studios.

Created by Kayo and Nathan Byron, it is written by Byron and Paul Doolan (Trollied) with Patrica Alcock, Tasha Dhanraj and Tom Melia and produced by Debbie Pisani (Flack).

The executive producers for Roughcut are Ash Atalla (The Office, The IT Crowd) and Alex Smith (Trollied). It is distributed by NBCUniversal Global Distribution on behalf of Sky Studios, both of which are part of Comcast.
