UKTV orders feature-length special about classic British comedy Open All Hours

David Jason will reprise his role as Granville for a final time

UKTV has commissioned a one-off feature-length special celebrating the 50th anniversary of classic British comedy Open All Hours, which will include a brand-new short scene.

The 1×90’ special, which is titled Open All Hours: Inside Out, will see actor David Jason discuss his personal journey on the show, revealing behind-the-scenes moments.

In the short scene, penned by original writer Roy Clarke, Jason will reprise his role as Granville for a final time, closing the shop for the night while offering a glimpse into how his life has moved on since we last saw him.

Produced by Studio Crook, the special will air on U&Gold in 2026.

In separate news, UKTV’s free streaming service U has launched on Sky Q in the UK. The launch follows the multi-year deal agreed by UKTV and Sky last year, which saw the U app launch on Sky Glass and Sky Stream devices, as well as securing carriage for the U&Alibi and U&Gold channels across Sky’s platforms.
