Ukraine stages Carol’s Second Act

Ukraine Media Group has ordered a local version of US sitcom Carol’s Second Act for linear network Ukraine.

Produced by Tele Pro, the Ukranian adaptation, called Liusya the Intern, will follow Liusya Zhuk as she pursues her dream of becoming a doctor after her husband leaves her for a younger mistress.

Maksym Lytvynov and Vira Yakovenko are directing the series, which is being executive produced by Viacheslav Bratukh.

The US version, starring Patricia Heaton, was produced by CBS Studios for US broadcast network CBS. ViacomCBS Global Distribution Group handles sales.

Dariya Deynichenko, creative producer for the Ukraine channel, said: “Liusya Zhuk deliberately leaves her comfort bubble and regularly gets into hilarious situations. However, Liusya’s strength and uniqueness are in the fact that she never gives up and always fights to the end.”
