Thailand’s Workpoint TV preps first international remake of My Boyfriend is Better

My Boyfriend is Better debuted on music channel Mnet

Thai broadcaster Workpoint TV is gearing up to launch the first local version of a music entertainment format from CJ ENM in South Korea and Masked Singer creator Won-woo Park.

The Thai adaptation of My Boyfriend is Better will launch on June 6 and marks the first international remake of the format, which began airing on CJ-owned music channel Mnet in March last year.

The format features various boyfriends facing off in a singing competition as part of a strategic betting game orchestrated by their girlfriends. The girlfriends ultimately face the dilemma of betting on their own boyfriend to win or one of their rivals.

The launch comes after multiple seasons of CJ ENM format I Can See Your Voice have aired on Workpoint TV.

CJ ENM and Park, whose Masked Singer format has been a hit in the US and UK, began developing My Boyfriend is Better in 2019.

Diane Min, head of format sales at CJ ENM, said: “The launch of My Boyfriend Is Better in Thailand will serve as a fantastic catalyst for the format’s global expansion.”

Vichanee Srisawat, chief marketing officer at Workpoint TV, described the show as “outrageously fun” and “a good combination between singing competition and gameshow.”
