Telefuturo orders first Paraguayan version of Big Brother as Lat Am roll-out continues

Telefuturo’s upfront presentation

Broadcaster Telefuturo has greenlit the first Paraguayan adaptation of Big Brother, which is set to premiere next year.

The adaptation of the reality format, distributed by Banijay Rights, was the main new title unveiled during the broadcaster’s 2026/27 upfront.

Big Brother is continuing its roll-out across Latin America, following recent seasons in Argentina and Chile, while Uruguay’s Canal 10 is also preparing its first local version to debut in the second half of this year.

Created by John de Mol and first broadcast in the Netherlands in 1999, Big Brother has run to more than 550 seasons and been adapted in around 70 countries.

The announcement forms part of Telefuturo’s push to strengthen its entertainment offering. In August, it will launch a new edition of dance reality show Baila Conmigo Paraguay, an adaptation of TelevisaUnivision’s Bailando por un sueño, while in the first half of 2027 it will bring back Yo me llamo Paraguay, the local version of Banijay format My Name Is.

In scripted, the channel’s strategy will remain focused on acquired titles. Globo’s Brazilian telenovela Vale todo will be the main new addition to its primetime schedule. Telefuturo has a content agreement with the Brazilian media giant running until 2030.

“The programming we presented reflects a very clear vision: to continue strengthening our leadership through quality content that connects with audiences wherever they choose to consume it,” Fernando Duarte, general manager of television at Telefuturo, told local newspaper Última Hora.
