TeamTo picks Martian Blueberry to co-develop first anime series Junichiro Jackson

Junichiro Jackson marks the start of a partnership between TeamTo and Martian Blueberry

Paris-based children’s studio TeamTO is developing its first original adult anime-inspired series in collaboration with US animation studio Martian Blueberry.

Junichiro Jackson (10×30’) will be undertaken by TeamTOKO, the anime-inspired production division launched by the company in March.

It follows private investigator Jackson as he confronts demons and his own inner darkness after a seemingly routine case uncovers a dangerous conspiracy.

A teaser trailer will be screened for the first time at the Annecy International Film Festival this month. The project serves as the launch title for a broader creative and strategic alliance between TeamTo and Martian Blueberry.

Marco Balsamo and Tara Sibel Demren, producers at TeamTO, said: “What inspired us to create this project was the opportunity to explore the grey areas of deeply complex characters within a fractured society that feels increasingly reflective of the world around us.”

Carl Jones and Love Jones, co-founders of Martian Blueberry, said: “Partnering with TeamTO is about pushing animation culture forward through fearless creativity, diverse voices, and experimental storytelling to create something meaningful, impactful, and unlike anything audiences have seen before.

“JJ is the kind of project that reminds us why we started Martian Blueberry in the first place. We love anime and music-driven worlds that exist outside the traditional boundaries of Hollywood, stories shaped by different cultures, perspectives, and lived experiences.”
