Strictly Come Dancing gets dance tutorial spin-off for CBBC

The BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing

BBC Children’s and Education in the UK has commissioned a spin-off from long-running Saturday night entertainment format Strictly Come Dancing for younger viewers.

Produced by BBC Studios Entertainment for children’s channel CBBC and streamer iPlayer, Strictly Pro Dance Off will see the main programme’s professional dancers go head-to-head in a series of interactive dance battles.

In each episode of the seven-minute show, one Strictly pro will be joined in a virtual training room by two others to lead a tutorial on a routine, before their two pro students take to the floor to battle it out and impress their teacher.

Viewers are encouraged to join in if they can, following step-by-step instructions, or sit back and enjoy the performance.

The first broadcast of each episode will go out live during CBBC’s Saturday Mash-Up! each week, lining up with the themes of the main Strictly show that families can watch together on the same evening. Episodes will be available on iPlayer after the live broadcast.

Strictly Pro Dance Off premieres this Saturday, aligning with the debut of the next season of Strictly Come Dancing.
