Strawberry Blond opens Glasgow office

UK indie Strawberry Blond is launching an office in Glasgow, headed by its series producer Hannah Smith.

A new team will be hired to work under Smith at the Scottish office, which will focus on developing entertainment, features and kids’ series.

Smith’s credits at Strawberry Blond include The Live Lounge Show (BBC4), The Great British Dig (More4) and The Playlist (CBBC).

The Glasgow office is the third to be launched by the company, which is based in London and has a sister label in Bristol, Super Best Quality Video Productions, run by former UKTV commissioning editor Joe McVey.

Strawberry Blond was founded in 2017 by Steve Wynne, a former executive producer at Disney Channel UK and director of production at Warner Brothers International Television.

Wynne, the company’s CEO, previously co-founded Rival Media, which produced shows such as Mission Beach for the BBC and set up a TV division at Pretzel Films.

Wynne said: “We have so many Scottish people working in our team that it seemed only fair to let them work in their own country, rather than drag them down to London. We want happy workers who properly represent the nations and regions, as they will develop and produce the types of shows the ever-growing number of devolved commissioners will be after.”
