Squirrel Media launches international distribution division at Content Americas

CONTENT AMERICAS: Spanish group Squirrel Media is here in Miami to officially unveil Squirrel Media Distribution, its new division dedicated to international content sales, as part of a strategic reorganisation of its entertainment and media operations.

The launch is part of the consolidation of Squirrel Studios, the division that brings together the group’s production, creation and distribution of audiovisual content. The outfit is at Content Americas in Miami with a catalogue geared toward the Latin American market.

The titles presented include fiction formats such as El Diván, documentaries such as Custo Barcelona and Hasta Encontrarte, as well as series, TV movies, and feature films available for international sales.

As part of this move, Squirrel has brought former Venevision International exec Cristóbal Ponte on board as head of Squirrel International Sales, reinforcing its commitment to expanding the group’s presence in Latin America and other international markets.

The creation of Squirrel Media Distribution is part of a broader reorganisation of the group, which now structures its activity into three major verticals: Squirrel Studios, focused on content and major events; Squirrel Media, one of Spain’s leading media agencies; and Squirrel Network, which operates six television channels, including a national DTT network, thematic satellite channels and IPTV services.

In recent years, Squirrel has accelerated its growth through strategic acquisitions in Spain, such as Ganga Producciones and Mondo TV, the latter converted into Hi Animation, consolidating an ecosystem that integrates production, animation, distribution, advertising, and broadcasting, and which now seeks to gain greater international traction through its new sales division.
