Something Special wins Korea Credit Guarantee Fund’s Little Penguin Fund

Unforgettable Duet will benefit from the funding

South Korean format agency Something Special has won the Little Penguin Fund from the Korea Credit Guarantee Fund (KODIT) to support the company’s expansion.

The Little Penguin Fund targets innovative startups founded within the past seven years that show high creativity and growth potential. Something Special plans to use the funding to support two shows that are currently in production and available as formats.

The first series, Unforgettable Duet, is a reality singing format centred on people with dementia. In each episode, a different Korean singer takes a person living with dementia and their family member on a trip down memory lane. The patient then sings a duet with their family member, before the singer performs a tribute song that captures their personal experience.

The second series, The Underdogs: Top Dog Project, is a canine reality competition show in which rescued dogs are partnered with people who have gone through hardship.

Guided by expert trainers, the human-dog teams are then tasked with completing challenges that test their physical and emotional limits, as they embark on a journey aimed at building trust and resilience, and giving both canines and humans a second chance through their new bonds.
