Sky investigates The Pembrokeshire Murders in three-part docuseries

The Pembrokeshire Murders comes from Magna Studios

UK pay TV broadcaster Sky has commissioned a docuseries re-examining two double murders that occurred on the Pembrokeshire coast in Wales in the 1980s.

The Pembrokeshire Murders (3×60’, working title), produced by Magna Studios, re-examines evidence from the investigation into the murders of Richard and Helen Thomas in 1985 and Peter and Gwenda Dixon in 1989.

The case was finally closed in 2011 when local man John Cooper was convicted. But a decade later, ITV’s drama based on the murders, also called The Pembrokeshire Murders, led two locals – journalist Andy Chandler and legal assistant Hayley Wood – to uncover material from Cooper’s defence that points to other possible suspects.

With the material now under review by the Criminal Cases Review Commission, Sky’s docuseries gains access to Chandler and Wood as they pursue their investigation, alongside those involved in the original police investigation.

The docuseries is coming to Sky Documentaries and streaming service Now later this year.  Tash Gaunt is director and Stuart Bernard is showrunner, while Plimsoll’s creative director of non-fiction Louis Mole exec produces with Sarah Macdonald and Jonathan Smith. Sam Taylor is producer.
