Shaun Alperin takes acquisitions VP role at Peacock after leaving Prime Video Canada

Shaun Alperin has exited his role as head of content at Prime Video Canada to take a role as VP of acquisitions at US streamer Peacock.

The LA-based exec spent almost six years at Prime Video, joining in the summer of 2020 as senior content acquisition manager before being promoted to content acquisition principal and later being elevated to head of content following the departure of Nav Saini. He announced his departure on LinkedIn.

During his tenure, he was responsible for acquiring hundreds of titles for the Canadian market, including documentaries like Mr Dressup: The Magic of Make Believe, Kids in the Hall: Comedy Punks and a doc on legendary Canadian band The Tragically Hip. He worked closely alongside Tyler Bern, who serves as head of content for Prime Video in Australia, New Zealand and Canada.

Before joining Prime Video, Alperin was director of business development, international digital networks for Starz in the US and prior to that did stints at Hulu and ESPN.

“Leaving Prime Video after six incredible years wasn’t an easy decision. I’m grateful to have worked alongside so many talented colleagues, learned from the best in the business, and helped build Prime Video alongside Tyler Bern,” wrote Alperin on LinkedIn.
