RTL Hungary lands Signal.Stream, Talpa Studios’ Anti Survival Show format

A.S.S – Anti Survival Show is shot at a production hub in Greece

MIPCOM: RTL in Hungary has become the first international broadcaster to commission a local adaptation of Dutch reality format A.S.S – Anti Survival Show.

In the show, 12 contestants battle for a life of luxury aboard a spectacular yacht. Those who lose are sent to a miserable beach where survival is a struggle and luxury is a constant temptation.

They must win physical challenges to secure a spot aboard the yacht, but staying on board is not guaranteed as a game of strategy, manipulation and betrayal could see them sent back to the beach. In the finale, the remaining contestants compete for a cash prize.

A.S.S – Anti Survival Show was originally produced by Signal.Stream and John de Mol’s Talpa Studios for NET5 and Kijk.nl in the Netherlands and Streamz in Belgium, where it has been recommissioned for a second season.

RTL has ordered a 12-episode adaptation, set to be produced next May at the format’s international production hub in Greece, the broadcaster announced on the second day of Mipcom.

A US version of the format is being developed by B17 Entertainment, which plans to pitch it to broadcasters and streamers.

Sebastian van Barneveld, director of global distribution at Talpa Studios, said: “The first international commission is an important milestone for A.S.S, but what makes the format particularly attractive is its flexibility.

“With both a stripped daily version and a weekly, story arc-driven version, broadcasters can adapt the format to their programming needs. Combined with our international production hub in Greece, which offers a high-quality, cost-efficient production set-up, we’ve created a strong proposition for the international market.”
