Round two as competition format Boxing Stars returns to Netherlands’ RTL

Boxing Stars was created by Belgian prodco De Mensen

Dutch broadcaster RTL has announced a reboot of sports-themed unscripted format Boxing Stars for streamer Videoland, eight years after its original run on RTL5.

The new version will be produced by Amsterdam-based indie Signal.Stream (Let’s Play Ball) and will premiere on October 31 for a series of three live fight nights. It sees 12 Dutch celebrities swap the spotlight for the boxing ring, competing across three weight divisions in a knockout competition with intense training camps.

Created by Belgian prodco De Mensen, Boxing Stars debuted in 2016 as a one-off live event to launch Belgian channel CAZ. The format evolved into a full series for Belgian commercial broadcaster VTM in 2018 and later that year travelled to the Netherlands, where RTL5 commissioned a seven-part adaptation.

The format is owned by De Mensen and distributed internationally by Belgium-based specialist format distributor Primitives.
