Range Media taps Kadin as scripted president on heels of A+E Studios pact

Talent management and production outfit Range Media Partners has appointed Heather Kadin as president of its scripted TV division, Range Studios.

The appointment comes on the heels of the news that A+E Networks had acquired a minority stake in the company. The partnership also included an agreement that sees A+E Studios serving as a coproduction partner on Range Media’s scripted TV projects.

In the new role, Kadin, who was formerly president at Alex Kurtzman’s Secret Hideout, will oversee all scripted development and production at Range Media, in addition to executive producing scripted projects produced under the pact with A+E Studios.

During her 12-year stint with Secret Hideout, Kadin worked on series such as Showtime’s The Comey Rule and upcoming series The Man Who Fell to Earth. Under Secret Hideout’s overall deal with CBS Studios, Kadin also worked across the Star Trek franchise on properties including Star Trek: Discovery, Star Trek: Picard and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. Her departure from Secret Hideout was announced in December.

She started her career at ABC in 2000, playing a key part in the development of series such as Lost, Grey’s Anatomy and Desperate Housewives, and later worked at Warner Bros Television.

Range Media was launched by former CAA and Entertainment One exec Peter Micelli in September 2020. On the talent representation front, the company has a large number of high-profile clients including Emilia Clarke, Bradley Cooper, Benicio Del Toro, Gabrielle Union, Michael Fassbender, Tom Hardy, Vince Vaughn, Naomi Ackie, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Jerrod Carmichael, Stephan James, Anna Kendrick and Shailene Woodley.

“Heather shined as the president of Secret Hideout, and her role in driving that company to being one of the most successful in the last 10 years is profound,” said Micelli.

“She has exquisite taste and cares deeply about telling great stories. Her relationships with artists run deep and are founded on mutual trust. Heather’s expertise will be invaluable to Range’s scripted television division succeeding in the right way.”

Kadin added: “After many years of producing mostly genre television, I had a strong desire to be more entrepreneurial and work with a wider array of talent. Range is exactly what I was looking for and I cannot wait to dig in with this team.”
