Production accelerator Indielab hires five execs to up its support for UK indies

UK production accelerator programme Indielab has made five appointments to its team to help boost the support it provides to the country’s content sector.

Kate Moore

Kate Moore has joined as executive producer and is project lead on Indielab’s upcoming GrowthLab event in London on February 9, which will feature discussions between founders and leaders of various independent production companies.

As part of the senior management team, Moore will work with Indielab CEO Victoria Powell on business development and fundraising for Indielab’s programmes. Senior TV executive Powell set up Indielab in 2015.

Moore’s previous roles include senior producer at National Theatre Live and she has also worked as a development executive across scripted and documentary feature films, securing funding from the Wellcome Trust, BFI and Channel 4.

Nicola Hewitt has joined as Indielab’s first business and operations manager. Also a member of the senior management team, Hewitt is responsible for finances, human resources, legal, policies, IT, health and safety, and budgeting.

Hewitt has previously worked at organisations such as The Skills for Life Trust and Lexington Communications.

Rebecca Thomson Foley joins the team in January as programme manager/producer, having recently produced a UK-wide programme of events for Unboxed 2022: Creativity in the UK.

Ashe Hussain will provide policy advice as Indielab’s new inclusion executive, which is a part-time role. Hussain has had an extensive career in the television and film industry, focusing on business development for production companies, diversity, talent development and training.

Finally, Klaudia Lita joins as programme co-ordinator, supporting the co-ordination and delivery of all Indielab events and programmes from conception to completion. Klaudia started her career in sales but most recently has been a freelance creative producer and events planner.

In 2023, Indielab is looking to expand its programme of national and regional accelerators and export labs for TV, games, film and animation companies, alongside the launch of GrowthLab.

Victoria Powell, Indielab’s CEO, said: “Between them, these new recruits bring a range of valuable experience in producing and delivering events, business development and management – from both within the content sector and the wider commercial world. This ensures that we will be well placed to deliver on our own growth plans in 2023, as well as support an increasing number of content creators with theirs.”
