Producer and director Jerry Rodriguez to lead scripted at Endemol Shine Boomdog

Endemol Shine Boomdog, the Spanish-language division of Banijay Americas, has named producer and director Jerry Rodriguez as its head of scripted content and senior VP.

In the new Mexico City-based role, Rodriguez will lead Endemol Shine Boomdog’s scripted team, which has produced series such as Súbete a Mi Moto for Amazon’s Prime Video, Nicky Jam: El Ganador (Netflix) and the recently announced comedy series Todo por Lucy, a re-imagined version of the classic comedy I Love Lucy, for Prime Video.

Rodriguez is replacing Leo Zimbron, who recently left the studio. He joins the company from Mexico City-based ArgosMedia Group, where he had served as chief creative officer since 2015, responsible for the creative supervision of all the scripted and unscripted content produced via the group.

During his 20-year spell with ArgosMedia, Rodriguez produced series including Viacom International Studios’ Dani Who? and Comedy Central’s Drunk History Latin America, the latter of which he wrote, produced and directed for three seasons. While Rodriguez was with ArgosMedia Group, he simultaneously served as general director for prodco Headroom, which is owned by ArgosMedia Group.

Alejandro Rincon, CEO of Endemol Shine Boomdog, said Rodriguez’s relationships with key buyers in the market made him the right executive to lead the expansion of the company’s scripted development.

Endemol Shine Boomdog was formed in November 2017 when Endemol Shine Latino joined forces with Mexico City-based Boomdog. Banijay subsequently acquired Endemol Shine Group in July 2020.

Endemol Shine Boomdog produces unscripted and scripted shows such as Mira Quien Baila (Univision), MasterChef Mexico (TV Azteca), Me Caigo de Risa (Televisa), Nicky Jam: El Ganador (Netflix), Se Rentan Cuartos (Comedy Central Latin America), Quien es la Mascara (Televisa), Subete a Mi Moto (Prime Video), LOL: Last One Laughing (Prime Video).
