Paramount+ orders Shore remake

Jersey Shore is being localised for Brazil

ViacomCBS-owned streamer Paramount+ has ordered a Brazilian version of sister company MTV’s Shore reality TV franchise.

Rio Shore (12×60′) will be filmed in Rio de Janeiro and launch later this year, joining MTV’s local versions of the format in the US, Mexico, the UK, Spain and Poland.

It will follow a group of young Brazilians from all over Rio de Janeiro state who will come together to party on the famous beach.

ViacomCBS said the production of Rio Shore will follow strict Covid-19 protocols, with talent, production staff and third parties involved in the production tested “constantly” and going through a quarantine period.

The show will be produced by VIS Americas and Endemol Shine and is set to arrive in the second half of 2021.

Jersey Shore first aired in the US in 2009, while other versions of the format have included Acapulco Shore (Mexico), Warsaw Shore (Poland), Gandía Shore (Spain), Geordie Shore (UK) and Floribama Shore (US). An international version, Super Shore, was released in 2016 and ran for three seasons.

The commission follows the strong performance of Acapulco Shore on Paramount+, which launched in Latin America in March, ViacomCBS said.

“With reality TV being one of the most demanded genres in Brazil and across Latin America, we’re ready to reignite the Shore franchise and deliver an incredible and entertaining season,” said Tiago Worcman, senior VP of youth and entertainment brands at ViacomCBS Networks Americas.
