ORF sends Rift to Canada

Austrian pubcaster ORF has sold a package of its natural history titles, including three-part documentary The Great Rift, into Canada.

The documentary, which looks at landscapes in Eastern Africa and the Arabian peninsula, has been picked up by Canada’s HDTV as part of a package of programming from ORF’s Universum strand.

Elsewhere, package deals were also agreed with Brunei’s RTB, Thai Public Broadcasting, EBS Korea and True Visions. ORF also sold 110 hours of programming into Italy, to free- and pay-TV channels, although it is not disclosing the broadcasters involved.

Finally, in Mexico, university channel TV Unam has agreed a 28-hour package deal, which includes investigative documentary Voynich Mystery.

As previously reported, ORF was in Cannes last week seeking coproduction partners for two 3D factual projects: Little Monsters In 3D (1×50′) and Planet Human – An Exploration In 3D (1×90′).
