Nickelodeon joins Drama Club

Nickelodeon has ordered a mockumentary-style comedy series that follows a group of middle schoolers and their school’s overlooked drama club.

Drama Club (10×30′) launches later this month and comes from creators and executive producers Monica Sherer and Madeline Whitby.

The show will premiere digitally on the Nick app and Nick.com on March 13, before airing on ViacomCBS-owned Nickelodeon on March 20.

It is produced by ViacomCBS-owned Awesomeness (To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, Trinkets, PEN15), with Shelley Zimmerman and Brin Lukens executive producing.

Eric Falconer (How I Met Your Mother, Blue Mountain State) is showrunner and exec producer on the series, whose first episode is directed by Nancy Hower (Teachers, Those Who Can’t).

Production of Drama Club for Nickelodeon and Awesomeness is overseen by Shauna Phelan, senior VP of live-action scripted content, and Zack Olin, senior VP of live action.
