Netflix orders Coben drama for France

Netflix has greenlit its latest adaptation of a Harlan Coben thriller, which joins their previous collaborations Polish series The Woods, UK series The Stranger and forthcoming Spanish series El Inocente.

French-set thriller Gone For Good will star Finnegan Oldfield, Nicolas Duvauchelle, Guillaume Gouix and Garance Marillier and will be directed by Juan Carlos Medina. Coben serves as executive producer.

The five-part series was created and written by David Elkaïm and Vincent Poymiro in collaboration with Pauline Guena, Nacim Mehtar and Marion Festraëts. Calt Studio (Xavier Matthieu) is set to begin production in September.

Gone For Good follows a man in his thirties who had thought he had drawn a line under the tragedy that saw the two people he loved the most die. But when his lover disappears during his mother’s funeral, he has to face all the truths that were hidden from him, as well as those he had decided to ignore.

“Netflix has been a wonderful partner in adapting my novels in a variety of countries, and it’s a particular thrill to be making Gone For Good in France. I’m honoured to be working with this incredibly talented French cast and crew,” said producer and writer Coben.

Damien Couvreur, head of original French series at Netflix, said: “Gone for Good has all the ingredients of his great thrillers which have consistently sparked joy with our members.”

Coben is the author of 30 novels including The Stranger, The Boy From The Woods, Tell No One and the Myron Bolitar Series.

Netflix has had a multi-year exclusive overall deal with Coben since 2018.

As part of the pact, Netflix is working with Coben to develop 14 existing titles and future projects into English- and foreign-language series, as well as films to premiere on Netflix around the world.

Coben serves as an executive producer on all projects. He is represented for film and TV by Michael Gendler at Gendler & Kelly.
