NBCU Telemundo Enterprises promotes trio

Miami-based NBCUniversal (NBCU) Telemundo Enterprises has restructured its entertainment and revenue divisions, resulting in promotions for three executives.

Ronald Day

The media giant said it has realigned several of its divisions to fuel growth, driven by Latinos’ demand for culturally relevant storytelling across linear, digital and mobile formats.

Its entertainment division is developing a “data-driven content strategy” tailored to audience preferences as part of the rejig, with content being aimed at various Telemundo platforms.

Ronald Day, formerly executive VP of entertainment for Telemundo Networks, has been elevated to president, entertainment and content strategy and will continue to report to Beau Ferrari, chairman of NBCU Telemundo Enterprises.

Romina Rosado has been upped from senior VP to executive VP, entertainment and content strategy, with both Day and Rosado working on the company’s content strategy across linear and non-linear platforms.

With a focus on entertainment and in collaboration with Telemundo’s global studio, network news and sports arms, the division will make content available on all Telemundo platforms, including Universo and Peacock, as well as other direct-to-consumer (D2C) outlets.

Peter Blacker, previously executive VP of revenue strategy and innovation, will oversee a redesigned revenue strategy and distribution business in his expanded role as executive VP, chief commercial officer, head of D2C licensing. Blacker will continue to report to Ferrari.

The new structure is intended to “maximise Telemundo’s content across all its platforms and strengthen collaboration” between the company’s creative team and the revenue and distribution team.

In his new role, Blacker will focus exclusively on the commercialisation, monetisation and distribution of Telemundo content, including on D2C and emerging platforms.

Telemundo Global Studios, led by president Marcos Santana, will continue to oversee longform and shortform content creation for all platforms, including D2C and emerging formats.

The current executive leadership team continues to report to Ferrari, including Santana; Amanda Calpin, chief financial officer; Luis Fernández, president of network news; and Ray Warren, president of Telemundo Deportes.

“Telemundo is a market leader that represents the Latino of today. As our audience’s media habits continue to evolve, Telemundo is evolving with them. This alignment will focus our creative teams to produce leading content across all platforms, while accelerating our commercialisation teams to best deliver and maximise monetisation in the marketplace,” said Ferrari.
