LeBron James will host Cleveland Hustles

US network NBC has picked up a scripted project from basketball star LeBron James’ prodco SpringHill Entertainment.

The untitled series follows a doctor who specialises in treating the world’s top athletes before suddenly becoming plagued by his own health crisis.

NBC purchased the script with a penalty commitment and James will executive produce with Maverick Carter, Nicolas Falacci and Cheryl Heuton.

Matt O’Neill will write the script, with Dr James Andrews on board as a consultant.

It’s the latest project to hail from James, who in October signed on to be an executive producer on NBC gameshow The Wall. He is also attached to CNBC reality series Cleveland Hustle.

In related news, NBC has handed a put pilot order to an untitled single-camera comedy from Kourtney Kang (Fresh Off the Boat), Nahnatchka Khan and Fred Savage.
