Montreal’s Attraction hires former Incendo exec to lead English-language push

Quebec-based prodco and distributor Attraction has hired former Incendo executive Ian Whitehead to spearhead a push into the English-language scripted market.

Whitehead, who led producer-distributor Incendo’s scripted production business for nearly a decade before departing earlier this year, joins Attraction as VP of English scripted content.

Attraction president Richard Speer said: “His impressive track record and extensive international experience will be a great asset to Attraction as we look to strengthen our global presence. The entire team is excited about this major addition that will help us make our mark in the English-speaking market.”

While Attraction has produced a handful of English-language scripted series in the past, including Naked Josh and Ciao Bella, Whitehead’s appointment represents a more formal push into the space.

In addition to overseeing a vast slate of TV movies during his time at Incendo, Whitehead also worked on international drama coproduction Versailles, which aired for three seasons.

Since launching in 2002, Attraction has produced more than 7,000 hours of content across unscripted, documentary, scripted and feature films. The company’s production credits include European-Canadian coproduction Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell and feature films C.R.A.Z.Y. and Mafia Inc.
