Millie Fleur, Worst Week Ever among new titles set to be unveiled by Scholastic, 9 Story

Millie Fleur is a 2D preschool comedy based on Christy Mandin’s Scholastic book series

Scholastic Entertainment and 9 Story Media Group have revealed a slate of four in-development titles, a new Super Why! series and second seasons of Do Not Watch This Show and Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood ahead of Mipcom.

Among the projects in development is Millie Fleur (52×11′), a 2D preschool comedy based on Christy Mandin’s Scholastic book series. The series follows a girl who embraces the strange and unusual world around her.

Worst Week Ever (52×11′) targets eight-to-12s and follows 12-year-old Justin as he navigates a series of increasingly embarrassing mishaps. The series is being developed with Studio Moshi, with assistance from ABC Australia and the Australian Children’s Television Foundation, and is based on the books by Eva Amores and Matt Cosgrove.

Preschool title Beanstalk & Bear: Fairy Tale Detectives (52×11’) is based on Make Believe Ideas’ True Crime Fairy Tales books and puts familiar fairy-tale characters into new mysteries, with two young detectives investigating each case.

Also in development is Earth Rangers: Underground (52×11’), aimed at five-to-eight year olds. The animated comedy follows two children recruited by a covert team of animal agents tackling environmental crises.

The lineup of new series includes Super Why’s Comic Book Adventures, a 117×7′ run of musical shorts expanding the Super Why! preschool franchise. The series introduces new character Power Paige and uses a comic-book format to build early literacy skills.

Returning titles include season two of Do Not Watch This Show (20×11′). Based on Andy Lee’s Do Not Open This Book series, the Australian comedy follows Wizz, a blue monster who repeatedly tries to convince viewers to stop watching.

Meanwhile, the eighth season (16×11’) of Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood is on the slate. The series is coproduced with Fred Rogers Productions and is inspired by Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood.

9 Story added that its animation studio Brown Bag Films will showcase animation tests from across the slate at Mipcom alongside new creative partnerships and expanded animation capabilities spanning preschool through adult audiences.
