After winning a competitive auction, the two companies will now adapt the book into a high-end returning TV series.

2DUX² co-founder and co-CEO Marc Forster (World War Z) is set to direct the project, while Fremantle, which has a first-look deal with You+Me, will handle global distribution.

Set to be published by Bantam next April, Nines is a revenge thriller about an orphan and convict who must escape from prison to avenge the murder of his wife.

Scallion will executive produce alongside Forster, Renée Wolfe, Krishnendu Majumdar and Richard Yee. No commissioning broadcaster or platform has been announced yet.

Majumdar and Yee, co-founders of Me+You Productions, said in a statement: “We’re excited to join forces with 2DUX², and having a world-class filmmaker like Marc directing is a real coup. We can’t wait to work with Jamie on this adaptation of his stunning debut. We believe Nines has every chance of becoming an iconic anti-hero for the screen.”
