MBC pre-buys preschool show for VoD

Counting with Paula spin-off show 123 Number Squad

MBC Group in the Middle East has pre-bought Singapore- and London-based animation prodco Omens Studios’ preschool show 123 Number Squad for its streaming services.

The 40×11′ series, a spin-off from fellow Omens show Counting with Paula, will debut in summer 2022 on MBC Group’s subscription VoD service Shahid VIP and ad-supported VoD platform Shahid.

The deal, which marks the first pre-sale for 123 Number Squad, also includes seasons of Counting with Paula (120×11′) and Leo the Wildlife Ranger (52×11′).

Season five of Counting with Paula and season two of Leo the Wildlife Ranger will launch on the platforms later this month, while season six of Counting with Paula will debut at the end of the year.

123 Number Squad is the first preschool production from Omens Studios’ fledgling UK office and follows three best friends with a shared love of numbers, fun and games, hanging out together in their playroom HQ.

Omens Studios’ London office is headed up by managing director Harry Teper and has a specific remit of creating global brands for the company’s IP through distribution, coproduction, marketing and digital activity.

It also acts as Omens’ pre-production hub, with all new IP development and some production being managed out of the UK for shows including Amy & the Afterlife and Dragon Lizzardo.
