Hibiscus Market sets up Trama Vertical to produce microseries with Spanish flavour

Mallorca-based production company Hibiscus Market Producciones has launched Trama Vertical, a platform for vertical series that seeks to boost Spanish production of microseries “with local identity.”

The platform will combine original productions focusing on Spanish idiosyncrasies with titles from other prodcos, with the aim of expanding its catalogue progressively.

Trama Vertical is currently in a funding round to cover part of the costs of its first two original series, which are already in the testing and pre-production phase.

Filming will begin in September on the island and the first premieres are planned before Christmas.

The platform is opting for tighter budgets than traditional fiction, a model that will allow it to explore different genres and launch new projects. It also aims to integrate brands through product placement and branded content.

“I was passionate about the idea of creating content directly in our language and, moreover, with our accent – something that reflected our idiosyncrasies,” explained Marina Rico, promoter of Trama Vertical and founder of Hibiscus Market.

Hibiscus Market was initially created to develop the short film El Elixir and other audiovisual projects, but it is currently focusing on the development of Trama Vertical.
