Little Princess enthroned at Sky UK, Nordisk Film, RTV Slovenia, TIMvision

Little Princess is based on the books by Tony Ross

MIPCOM: UK pay TV broadcaster Sky has acquired animated preschool series Little Princess from Banijay Kids and Family.

The show, which was originally produced by The Illuminated Film Company, has also been bought by Nordisk Film, RTV Slovenia and TIMvision, Banijay announced at this week’s Mipcom.

Sky UK has acquired all seasons and specials while Nordisk Film is taking seasons one to three and the specials for SVoD across the Nordics, RTV Slovenia has S1-2 and TIM is taking S1-2 for its Italian streaming platform aggregator TIMvision.

Based on the best-selling children’s books by award-winning author and illustrator Tony Ross, the Little Princess series launched in 2006 and has since travelled to more than 140 territories.

Julia Rowlands, senior VP sales, coproductions and acquisitions at Banijay Kids and Family, said: “Across the industry, we’re seeing continued demand for trusted, established IP that can cut through in an increasingly crowded landscape. With a new UK home on Sky and partners across Europe, Little Princess demonstrates the enduring value of distinctive characters and storytelling that audiences know and love.”
