Canal+, AMC Networks Central Europe and SBS in Australia are among the latest channels to have acquired crime drama Troppo or political thriller series Bonn from Germany’s Leonine Studios.

Canal+’s thriller channel Polar+ has acquired the basic pay TV, SVoD, TVoD and electronic sell-through (EST) rights to Troppo for French-speaking territories, while RTP2 in Portugal has licensed the free TV rights.

AMC Networks Central Europe has bought the pay TV, free TV and SVoD rights to Troppo for the Adria-Balkan countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and Slovenia) as well as for the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland and Romania.

SBS has picked up the free TV rights to Bonn as have RTP2, RTV in Slovenia and Hungary’s MTVA.

Troppo is based on the Crimson Lake novel series by Australian author Candice Fox. Produced by EQ Media Group, Beyond Entertainment and Renegade Entertainment, it centres on an ex-cop and private investigator as they investigate the murder of a brilliant tech pioneer.

Troppo premiered on Australia’s ABC and debuted in the US on Amazon Freevee in 2022. It was previously sold to Viaplay for the Nordics and Netherlands, and Amazon Freevee for Germany and the UK. Season two has just completed production.

Based on true events, Bonn is about rival secret services, old Nazi networks and a young woman who fights for her place in a male-dominated society. The six-part series is produced by Germany’s Odeon Fiction and Wilma Film in the Czech Republic for German broadcaster WDR.
