Leel Entertainment rolled out to offer kids ‘protected’ music, TV and gaming space

Leel Entertainment comes in response to bans on social media for kids

A platform for children that aims to provide a safe place for enjoying music, TV and games has launched in the US and UK.

Leel Entertainment comes from Leel Phone and nGülam. The latter is a media and tech consulting firm, while Leel Phone is part of Leel, which describes itself as “a secure digital ecosystem” for children that brings together connected devices, entertainment and parent controls, with no open internet or third-party app stores.

Designed for children aged four to 14, Leel Entertainment provides a suite of music, video and gaming services, brought together inside “one protected digital ecosystem.”

Across the suite, discovery is guided by editorial judgement and age suitability, rather than systems designed to maximise time spent. There is no advertising, no in-app purchases and no autoplay, ‘streaks’ or other mechanics that are designed for retention. All content is human-reviewed and age-rated.

The platform comes as governments around the world implement bans on social media services for children under 16, including YouTube, which contain content that could be harmful to young users.

“Children’s technology is entering a new era. The next generation will not be defined by safer devices alone, but by complete digital ecosystems that children genuinely want to use and parents can trust. While many children’s devices have focused on what to block, Leel Entertainment starts with what a great childhood experience should make possible: music worth discovering, stories worth watching and games worth playing. Protection is the starting point, not the finished product,” Leel Phone and nGülam said in a statement.

According to the companies, nGülam, which is leading on content acquisition and rights, has negotiated partnerships with “major record labels, movie studios and game studios.”

Adrian Janon, a partner at nGülam, said: “Children should not be treated as a profile inside an adult entertainment service. They are an audience in their own right, with their own tastes, rhythms and expectations. Building for them requires the same creative ambition and operating discipline as any major global streaming business – outstanding content, thoughtful curation, intuitive product design, trusted partners and a model aligned with families rather than attention. That is what Leel Entertainment has been created to deliver.”
