John Gore Studios acquires majority stake in AI specialist prodco Deep Fusion Films

John Gore Studios, the TV venture from media entrepreneur and theatre producer John Gore, has acquired a majority stake in UK-based AI specialist prodco Deep Fusion Films.

Under the deal, Cardiff-based Deep Fusion will join John Gore Studios’ group of specialist labels, retaining its leadership team and creative identity.

The company will continue to develop IP and produce its own projects, while at the same time supporting John Gore Studios’ wider slate by providing in-house expertise, tools and workflows across development, production, marketing and archive-led projects.

Deep Fusion was founded in 2023 by CEO Benjamin Field alongside CCO Jamie Anderson and executive chair Andrew Keats. The company aims to use emerging technologies to unlock new creative possibilities without undermining trust, authorship, or human creativity.

Its slate spans documentary, factual entertainment and scripted development, alongside experimental formats that include AI-assisted archive reimagining. The slate includes a recent AI recreation of the late Michael Parkinson’s chat show as a podcast with Parkinson at the helm from beyond the grave.

Media entrepreneur Gore launched John Gore Studios in the UK and installed Hilary Strong, previously head of Agatha Christie Ltd, as CEO at the start of last year, headquartered in London with offices in New York.

The company invested in a new production company launched by experienced drama producer Hilary Bevan Jones in October.

Gore said: “The film and television industry has always evolved through the creation of new tools, but the core of the craft has stayed the same: talent, imagination and collaboration. Deep Fusion Films understands that instinctively. They are producers first and their work shows how new technologies can open creative possibilities without replacing the human instinct and artistry that great filmmaking depends on.”

Strong said: “Deep Fusion Films embraces innovation with integrity, while respecting and safeguarding heritage. Their blend of creative excellence, technical innovation and highly principled approach, aligns perfectly with our studio’s vision.”

Field added: “Joining John Gore Studios gives Deep Fusion the scale and support to take our work further. We set out to prove that ethical AI is not a constraint but a creative enabler. Being part of a studio that values heritage, craft and long-term thinking allows us to expand what we do, collaborate more widely, and continue developing formats and techniques that genuinely move the industry forward.”

The acquisition was led by chief acquisition officer Jonathan Lack for John Gore Studios.
