ITV unveils new format slate

The distribution arm of UK broadcaster ITV has unveiled a slate of new formats, including a Dutch dance show and an Australian entertainment series.

The Ultimate Dance Battle

ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVSGE) is moving onto the dance floor with Dutch format The Ultimate Dance Battle, which airs on RTL5 in the Netherlands and Flemish net 2BE.

Exec produced by choreographer Dan Karaty, the format sees five choreographers and their dance teams challenged to create routines in the style of their opponents. The original series has been commissioned for a second season.

Granada Australia’s Young Talent Time, which airs on Network Ten, is a family entertainment show that showcases a regular cast of 10 young performers with a mix of song and dance routines.

Another Granada show, Please Marry My Boy, which was first produced for Seven Network, sees four mums help to find their unlucky in-love sons the girl of their dreams.

Sorority Girls, from 12 Yard Productions for Channel 4 (C4), followed a group of girls and their efforts to establish the first chapter of a US sorority at a UK university.

The Devil’s Dinner Party, which is produced by ITV Studios (ITVS) for UK diginet Sky Atlantic, is a new take on a popularity contest whereby six strangers get to know each other through a series of personal questions before choosing who should win a cash prize.

Another new format, High Stakes, is a quizshow where contestants must answer questions for an increasing amount of money while avoiding the traps that would see them walk away with nothing. The ITVS format previously had an eight-week run on ITV1.

Following the worldwide success of its ITVS’s reality cooking series Come Dine With Me, ITVSGE is also bringing to market its spin-off format Come Date With Me.

One man or woman enjoys a series of dates, in which the host must also cook for their love rivals, before choosing one to take on a luxury date. The series first aired on C4 late last year.

Meanwhile, Bank of Dave follows self-made millionaire David Fishwick, who decides to open his own bank in this observational series by Finestripe Productions for C4.

The new formats will be unveiled at ITVSGE’s first international formats showcase in London tomorrow before they are taken to MipTV next month.
