ITV acquires comedic crime drama Sunny Nights from Cineflix Rights

Sunny Nights is directed and executive produced by Trent O’Donnell

UK commercial broadcaster ITV has acquired eight-part comedy drama Sunny Nights from London-based distributor Cineflix Rights.

The darkly comedic crime drama is directed and executive produced by Trent O’Donnell (Colin from Accounts, Hacks, No Activity, Population 11).

Sunny Nights stars Will Forte (The Four Seasons, Last Man on Earth, Bodkin) as strait-laced American Martin Marvin, who teams up with his loose cannon sister, Vicki, played by D’Arcy Carden (Nobody Wants This, The Good Place, Barry), to set up a spray tan business in Sydney.

Supporting cast members include Rachel House (Thor: Ragnarok, Heartbreak High, Foundation), Jessica De Gouw (The Couple Next Door, The Artful Dodger, Ladies in Black) and Miritana Hughes (Wakefield, Preacher).

The deal was brokered by Sandra Piha, senior VP of sales, pan-regional, UK, Eire, and Scandinavia, Cineflix Rights.

Sunny Nights is a Stan Original series from Jungle Entertainment (Mr Inbetween, Population 11) and Echo Lake Entertainment (The Great) in association with Cineflix Rights (The Walsh Sisters, So Long, Marianne, Virdee) with production investment from Stan and Screen Australia, and financed with support from Screen NSW through the Made in NSW Fund.

The series is directed and executive produced by O’Donnell and is created and written by Nick Keetch (Almost Paradise) and Ty Freer (High Fire, Almost Paradise).

Stan executive producers are Cailah Scobie and Amanda Duthie. Cineflix Rights’ Tom Misselbrook is executive producer alongside James Durie.
