Initial Kangaroo findings imminent

The UK Competition Commission will publish the provisional findings of its investigation into Project Kangaroo, the proposed on-demand joint venture from the BBC, ITV and Channel 4, tomorrow.

The document will essentially provide the blueprint for the terms on which the competition authority will allow Kangaroo to proceed.

Should the joint venture partners or third parties raise no further objections to the provisional findings, the terms on which Kangaroo can go ahead will remain largely unchanged ahead of the commission’s final report due February 8.

The BBC Trust will then, however, still have to give its own approval before a commercial version of the service can go live. A closed trial is still anticipated in January.
