HBO Max and Peacock in the US have both picked up the rights to Canadian sci-fi drama Orphan Black under co-exclusive agreements.

Each streamer has acquired all five seasons of the Tatiana Maslany-led show, which aired on Bell Media’s Space (now CTV Sci-Fi) in Canada and BBC America in the US from 2013 to 2017.

The series was co-created by Graeme Manson (Snowpiercer) and John Fawcett (Memory of a Killer) and produced by Canada’s Boat Rocker Studios.

In the US, Orphan Black is distributed jointly by Boat Rocker Studios and BBC Studios, while BBC Studios handles distribution outside the US and Boat Rocker is the franchise manager.

The award-winning show saw Maslany playing Sarah Manning, an outsider and street-wise chameleon who, after witnessing the suicide of a woman who looks just like her, discovers she is one of multiple genetically identical human clones.

The project counts Boat Rocker co-founders Ivan Schneeberg and David Fortier, as well as Manson and Fawcett, among its executive producers.
