Harbour Rights partners China’s COL Group to shop microdramas in Europe, Lat Am

Chinese series Prince’s Rules Broken?! from COL Group International

Hong Kong-based Harbour Rights has partnered with Chinese publishing and vertical drama company COL Group International to distribute the latter’s microdramas in Europe and Latin America.

Harbour Rights has been appointed as an official distribution partner for Europe and Latin America, where it will distribute COL’s portfolio of more than 1,000 vertical dramas. The library features productions from COL’s FlareFlow and 17K platforms.

Content is available in English, Chinese, Korean and Japanese, with Indian, Turkish and Arabic content soon to be part of the offering. Microdramas include English series She Means Justice and Chinese series Prince’s Rules Broken?!

It comes after COL Group launched its content distribution division last year off the back of the success of titles such as Finding Love After I Die, The Day I Gave Birth I Got Divorced, Midlife Sparks With a Billionaire Taxi Driver, Yes Mr CEO We Have a Baby and Forbidden Love He’s My Brother.

Harbour Rights said the deal follows a microdrama boom in the US and China and in anticipation of a “global wave” set to take place this year. The distributor will distribute COL’s microdramas to new digital-native platforms built for vertical content and existing media companies transitioning into the medium.

“Navigating the international distribution landscape for this new format presents unique challenges, from technical specifications to platform strategy,” said Teremoana Seguin, MD of Harbour Rights.

“Our role is to provide a ready-made, end-to-end solution for partners – from initial content evaluation to structuring full output deals. We simplify the process, allowing platforms to seamlessly integrate this must-have content and capitalise on its immediate audience appeal.”

Timothy Oh, COL’s general manager, added: “Having Harbour Rights onboard is key as we leverage mainstream networks to reach new, mobile-first audiences. Our content is tried, tested and has scaled globally, and we’re confident this partnership will create the next wave of success stories.”
