Handful of deals for Eccho drama

Karadayi (20×90′), the Turkish drama series from Istanbul prodco Ay Yapim, has been licensed to five broadcasters, distributor Eccho Rights has confirmed.

Qatar TV has taken the show, which airs in Turkey on ATV, marking the first time the Gulf channel has acquired a Turkish series. In Egypt, CBC bought the rights to exclusively air the series in August. Eccho said talks are also underway with nets in the Gulf and Lebanon.

In Croatia, the CME-owned channel Nova TV has acquired the rights to Karadayi. Bosnian channel OBN has also bought the rights and finally Urdu-1 has taken the show for Pakistan.

“Karadayi is, once again, proof of the continuous success of Turkish drama worldwide,” said Fredrik af Malmborg, MD of Eccho Rights. Karadayi debuted on ATV in fall 2012, growing its audience share from 14% to 26%, according to Eccho.
