Hallmark+ orders US remake of Keshet dating show Dear Neighbours

Hallmark+, the rebranded Hallmark streaming service set to launch in the autumn, has ordered a US version of the Keshet International-owned Israeli dating format Dear Neighbours.

Ashley Williams

LA-based Keshet Studios is producing the American adaptation, which is titled Small Town Setup and hosted by Ashley Williams (How I Met Your Mother, Two Tickets to Paradise).

Hallmark+ ordered six 60-minute episodes, with the show set to debut in 2025.

The US series will follow parents whose successful adult children live far away and are still single. The parents ask their neighbours to help find eligible partners for their child in the hope that they will fall in love and move back to their hometown.

This marks the first unscripted commission for Keshet Studios, led by Rebecca Mayer and Benjamin Long, since it launched its unscripted division in April 2023.

Small Town Setup is currently in pre-production, with Ailee O’Neill (Paris in Love, Welcome Home Nikki Glaser) serving as showrunner. Executive producers include Keshet Studios’ Peter Traugott and Mayer, Keshet International’s Keren Shahar and Keshet Media Group’s Avi Nir alongside O’Neill and Williams.

The original version of the show was produced by Dana Dayan’s Fushia Productions for Israel’s Keshet 12. Keshet International handles international distribution of the format.

Last week, Hallmark Media announced that it was rebranding and relaunching its Hallmark Movies streaming platform as Hallmark+. Unscripted greenlights announced at the time include new series fronted by Lacey Chabert (Celebrations with Lacey Chabert), Wes Brown (Ready, Set, Glow!) and Luke Macfarlane (Home is Where the Heart Is).
