Grannies joins Lineup Industries’ family of formats for Mipcom

Grannies was commissioned by Dutch public broadcaster Omroep Max

Amsterdam-based distributor Lineup Industries is taking a slate of original formats to Mipcom this month, headlined by European Broadcasting Union 2026 format of the year Grannies.

Originally commissioned by Dutch public broadcaster Omroep Max, produced by Beeldbrigade and now in its fourth season, Grannies sees a group of older ladies discuss the modern world every week together with a young co-host.

Topics cover everything from contemporary issues, music, fashion and trends to making a nude calendar and Tinder. The Grannies series has also extended into a podcast, on to TikTok and into a book.

Also on Lineup’s slate is family format Mission Europe from NRK in Norway, in which two comedians travel to lesser-visited or unconventional places across the continent. There they tackle various unique and improvised local challenges rooted in serious social and geopolitical themes but approached with humour.

Self-made Sisters (8×25’), produced by Fish to Fish Media for NPO in the Netherlands, follows a group of female executives in their daily lives, each of which have defied the norms of their cultural backgrounds to build successful businesses. However, while the women find common ground in their ambition, they frequently disagree on faith, relationships, parenting and success.

Forgotten War Albums centres on a passionate team of history experts who embark on a mission to unravel the photo album of an unknown, forgotten Second World War soldier. The team acts as historical detectives to uncover the soldier’s identity and piece together his wartime journey. A third season has been commissioned by NPO2.

Completing Lineup’s Mipcom slate is NPO1’s long-running series Almost There. The slow-paced series records the experiences of a group of older people who travel together on a camping holiday, each in their own caravan or motorhome.
