Germany’s Wiedemann & Berg Film adds Netflix’s Steffi Ackermann

Germany’s Wiedemann & Berg Film, part of Leonine Studios, has added Netflix’s former director of series in DACH (Germany, Austria and Switzerland), Steffi Ackermann, to its management team.

Ackermann left the global streamer towards the end of last year having joined as director of original series in Germany in 2020.

The exec will work with Marcus Welke, who has been a producer at Wiedemann & Berg since 2022 and has also been added to the company’s management team. Welke most recently oversaw the Warner Bros Discovery series Cash and the Netflix film Spieleabend.

The appointments come as Quirin Berg, MD of Leonine Studios, is keen to strengthen the prodco’s feature film activities.

Both Ackermann and Welke will develop and produce German theatrical movies for Leonine Studios and report to Wiedemann & Berg Film founder’s Max Wiedemann and Berg.

Leonine was established in 2019 through the merger of Tele München Group, Universum Film, i&u TV and Wiedemann & Berg Film after the companies were acquired by New York-based investment firm KKR.
