Fox moves into CBC’s Diggstown

Vinessa Antoine plays a star lawyer who reconsiders her priorities in Diggstown

US broadcast network Fox has acquired Canadian legal drama Diggstown from transatlantic producer and distributor Entertainment One (eOne).

Diggstown was commissioned by Canadian pubcaster CBC as a coproduction between local outfits Circle Blue Entertainment, Freddie Films, Waterstar Entertainment and DHX Media.

The show was created by Floyd Kane who also showruns and exec produces. eOne handles global distribution and has sealed a deal with Fox for the first two seasons.

The plot follows Marcie Diggs, played by Vinessa Antoine, a star corporate lawyer who reconsiders her priorities and moves to work in a legal aid office after her beloved aunt takes her own life following the pressures of a malicious prosecution.

Other exec producers include Amos Adetuyi, Brenda Greenberg, Karen Wentzell, Michael Donovan, Mark Gosine and Todd Berger. Kelly Makin is the pilot director and executive producer.
