Former Paramount exec Maria Kyriacou to run for election as chair at ProSiebenSat.1

Former Paramount exec Maria Kyriacou is standing as a candidate for election to ProSiebenSat.1 in Germany’s supervisory board and, if elected, will run for chair.

Maria Kyriacou

ProSiebenSat.1’s current chair, Andreas Wiele, had previously announced that he will not be seeking re-election at the company’s AGM on May 28.

Kyriacou has 30 years of leadership experience in the global media industry, having previously held senior roles at Paramount Global, Disney and ITV Studios.

She began her career as senior VP of digital media distribution at Disney in 1995, a role she held until 2010 when she became MD of global entertainment at ITV and later president of international at ITV Studios in 2016.

In 2020, she joined ViacomCBS as president of international (Australia, Israel and the UK), before becoming president of Paramount’s international broadcast and studios operations from 2023 until March last year.

Kyriacou currently serves as a non-executive director at publishing company Informa.

Wiele said: “We are pleased to propose Maria Kyriacou as a candidate for the supervisory board and my succession. Her extensive experience and proven leadership in the global media industry make her ideally suited to help guide the successful transformation that ProSiebenSat.1 has begun in the last years.”

Meanwhile, Katrin Burkhardt and Simone Scettri are also standing for re-election to ProSiebenSat.1’s supervisory board. Burkhardt has been a member of the board since 2023, while Scettri was appointed at last year’s AGM, since when he has chaired the audit and finance committee.
